MovieScore Media presents an overview of the works of composer Miriam Cutler, a a mainstay of the documentary community. Ranging from a chronicle of Terry Gilliam’s unfinished Don Quixote movie (Lost in La Mancha) through shocking documentaries about unusual people (One Bad Cat, Finding Kukan) to LGBT-topics (Pandemic: Facing Aids, Chris & Don: A Love Story, Vito), Miriam Cutler brings her unique vision to all subject matters. Miriam Cutler: Film Music offers the composer’s own selection of her  favorite cues. Some films have raked in awards, others have never seen the light of day – their only common feature is that they offer fascinating examples of how a composer conquers unique challenges, trying to encapsulate all the features of the documentaries.

“Both film and music are collaborative endeavors. I have had so many great creative relationships along the way. Filmmakers I have worked with are among the most courageous, inspired, and creative people I know,“ says Miriam about the experience of being part of the documentary community for 20+ years. Though she originally worked on all kinds of projects, ranging from songwriting and records, corporate videos, live circus or scoring early entries of the cult Witchcraft series. She got her first important documentary, Arthur Dong’s Licensed to Kill which unlocking a passion for non-fiction work which she continues to focus on. 20 years later and a dozen projects later, Miriam Cutler still seeks original and challenging documentaries, regularly teaming up with old collaborators or working with new talents to tell the most extraordinary stories – extraordinary, because they’re real.

Miriam Cutler: Film Music features selections from 18 different movies, most of which have no commercial release on CD. The cues were personally selected by the composer to reflect on the many different projects from her career as a documentary composer.
