Based on Jussi Adler-Olsen bestseller, the current case of Department Q takes the investigators back to 1987 as they look into a series of disappearances all connected to the same person. Starring Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Fares Fares in their star-making roles as Carl M\u00f8rck and Assad,\u00a0<i>The Purity of Vengeance\u00a0<\/i>had the biggest opening ever for a Danish film in Denmark. With the change of director came a change of composers, both familiar to MovieScore Media: Mikkel Maltha (<i>You Disappear<\/i>) and Anthony Lledo (<i>Legends of Chima<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of effort was put into creating a solid and defined sonic palate of sounds, instruments, musical textures and thematic progressions,\u201d said the composers about the project. \u201cIt is a dark film, both visually and storywise, dealing with hopelessness, loss and anger tying up horrible events that took place in the 1960\u2019s to present day. Musically, particularly the use and sonic treatment of the string section was a key element in connecting these events and setting the tone for the film \u2013 the cold, distant sound of the violins, the waves of dark, sinister chords, the ticking col legno pulses and the lamenting string echoes are elements that, as a technique or a sound effect, function thematically in the score. Numerous other instruments added to the score, although often very subtly, including bowed guitar, solo violin and cello, dulcimers, bowls, glasses, scraped metals and cymbals, organs, synths and piano.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i>The Purity of Vengeance<\/i>\u00a0is Mikkel Maltha\u2019s second collaboration as composer with director Christoffer Boe. Their first collaboration was the critically acclaimed exhibition film\u00a0<i>The Journey\u00a0<\/i>(<i>Rejsen<\/i>) (2017). Mikkel Maltha has notably composed the music for Peter Sch\u00f8nau Fog\u2019s drama\u00a0<i>You Disappear\u00a0<\/i>(2017). Both films\u2019 scores are available from MovieScore Media. Maltha also has a long collaboration with director Christian E. Christiansen culminating with\u00a0<i>Lev St\u00e6rkt\u00a0<\/i>(2014) and\u00a0<i>Om natten\u00a0<\/i>(2008), the latter being nominated in the category of Best Live Action Short Film at the 2008 Academy Awards.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Lledo was born in Copenhagen made his grand entrance into the world of film scoring with the orchestral score to the Swedish thriller\u00a0<i>Frostbite\u00a0<\/i>(2006) \u2013 also available from MovieScore Media. In 2008, he moved to Los Angeles by invitation from film composer Harry Gregson-Williams and he contributed to such major motion pictures as\u00a0<i>X-Men Origins: Wolverine<\/i>\u00a0(2009),\u00a0<i>Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time<\/i>\u00a0(2010) or\u00a0<i>Unstoppable\u00a0<\/i>(2010).
