THE STORY: When a homeless little ghost knocks on the door to the eccentric residents of a ghost train on the lookout for a place to belong, she accidentally attracts the attention from the “outside world” and must team up with the motley crew of monsters on a crazy quest to save not only the future of the ghost train but also her only chance to finally have a family of her own.

THE SCORE: “Working on this movie was special for me. From the first emergency call from the production to the final music mix, only eleven weeks passed, so it was very intense. But I had the chance to be trusted by everyone, having a lot of freedom to put musical colors on this wonderful animated story, which happens not so often nowadays. We needed to create a musical world that feels familiar but does not exist: The ghosts and monsters cohabit with humans in Elli’s world but never really interact with each other. The first impulse was to set up a main theme not primarily focused on this particular universe but rather on Elli, as we follow her through her journey in finding herself and her roots in her own bold, heartfelt way. Keeping it warm with real instruments and homemade sounds, even when synthetic vibes were needed, resulted in a lot of musical fun and very bold choices and musical colors. The score navigates between different music genres, blending together songs, big band jazz touches, neo-classical romantic cues, big orchestral epic ones, vintage 50’s vocals, and even electronic bits.“ – Amaury Laurent Bernier

THE COMPOSER: Amaury Laurent Bernier was born and raised near Paris and is now living in Hamburg, Germany. After spending years writing and touring for different artists as a multi-instrumentalist and producer, he shifted his focus to writing music for films. Since then, he has written music for over 120 projects, including TV series like Atomic Puppet and feature films like Totem and 2 to 1. Amaury combines his film career with independent solo releases, reaching over 1.7 million streams on Spotify over the last two years.
