The Crow Girl (Adam Price)
Original score from the 2025 crime mystery television series directed by Charles Martin and Rebecca Rycroft, starring Eve Myles, Katherine Kelly and Clara Rugaard, produced by Buccaneer Media and released by Paramount+.
THE STORY: DCI Jeanette Kilburn and eminent psychotherapist Dr. Sophia Craven join forces to hunt the killer of young men. The investigation takes Jeanette and Sophia into a dangerous world of historic abuse and murder.
THE SCORE: “Reading Erik Axl Sund’s novel, The Crow Girl, gave me an extra opportunity to experiment musically before engaging with any aspect of the series itself. The theme of ‘loss of innocence’ emerged early on and something I explored musically. We began using the voice; the most visceral, raw way we can express ourselves. The concept of using ‘frozen voice’ felt particularly symbolic too, and transforming the voice into something less familiar quickly became a key element of our sonic palette. This eventually led us to using the nursery rhyme ‘Hush Little Baby’, where we embraced the chilling subtext often hidden in plain sight within such seemingly innocent songs. This main theme, in all its various contortions, became a useful thread throughout all six episodes. Amongst the mysteries and the unknowns, there is a clear, unwavering sense of heart and determination in many of the characters and their stories. Directors Charles and Rebecca emphasised the importance of capturing this emotional core in the music, whilst remaining grounded in the brutal, uncompromising world of The Crow Girl. And, of course, there was Slash. His iconic guitar sound elevated the soundtrack to heights we could never have imagined. You hear his unmistakable, raucous sound in the very first shot – an earthy descending guitar slide that mirrors the visuals; a somewhat musical deep dive into the pits of hell.” – Adam Price
