THE STORY: The Queen of Hearts has outlawed Christmas. As a child, the white rabbit missed her gift. Years later, Father Christmas receives the lost letter and voyages to Wonderland. With the help of curious young Alice, can Christmas be saved?

THE SOUNDTRACK: In The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland, the songs are key to the film’s narrative, and thus, they were written at the very beginning of the production process. Lyricist Amy Wadge and songwriter Guy Chambers collaborated on the songs. Guy explained about choosing the right lyrics : “We got to play, it was so much fun! We had freedom to make up some things, including words. The producers were very keen to feature a very ‘Lewis Caroll’ language, and thus we used odd, eccentric vocabulary, such as “brimmingly”,  you wouldn’t usually hear in a pop song.” “And then rhyming with those words,” added Amy.  “That was a good challenge!” Regarding the film’s themes and what Guy and herself were aiming at when writing the songs, Amy also added: “It’s Christmas and we wanted to captivate people so essentially, this is about Christmas and togetherness and all of the things that we all want at Christmas. It’s about fun and escapism – sitting down with the family and just enjoying something together and ignoring everything else that’s going on in the world.” When asked about the “sound world” of Christmas, Guy said:  “There are certain cliches that you can use in Christmas songs but I tried to avoid the more obvious ones and make the sound more quirky and eccentric. We wanted the songs to be crazy, catchy and really simple, because it’s mainly aimed at children, but at the same time kind of sophisticated. But mainly the songs are joyful. And silly. I think there’s not enough silliness in this world – there’s too much seriousness!”

THE COMPOSERS: Guy Chambers is one of the UK’s most successful living songwriters, having collaborated with artists including Tina Turner, Kylie Minogue, Will Young, Scissor Sisters, Busted, Melanie C, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, James Blunt, Marlon Roudette, Rufus Wainwright, Mark Ronson, and many more. He is perhaps best known for his long-standing partnership with Robbie Williams, co-writing many of Williams’ most iconic hits including “Angels,” “Millennium,” “Feel,” “Let Me Entertain You,” and “Rock DJ.” He produced, wrote and music directed Robbie’s first five solo albums, all of which reached the Number 1 slot in the UK music charts and globally sold over 40 million records. Guy also composes for film and theatre. Grammy award-winner Amy Wadge, is one of the UK’s most prolific contemporary songwriters. Her most notable success to date comes from her long established writing partnership with Ed Sheeran. Amy co-wrote with Ed Sheeran the song “Thinking Out Loud,”  which won the prestigious ‘Song of The Year’ Grammy award.   This song alone has been streamed/viewed over 3 billion times. Amy has a further 15 Grammy nominations, across a diverse range of artiste collaborators including John Legend, Diana Ross, Camilla Cabello, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban.
