$9.99 (Christopher Bowen)
Original score from the 2008 animated fantasy feature film directed by Tatia Rosenthal, starring Geoffrey Rush, Anthony LaPaglia and Samuel Johnson.
THE STORY: A stop-motion animated story about people living in a Sydney apartment complex looking for meaning in their lives.
THE SCORE: Bowen effectively shows that a captivating score doesn’t necessarily have to be big and sweeping – the $9.99 music is small-scale with an emphasis on piano, a string quartet and electronics. The film follows a number of individuals who live in a Syndey apartment complex looking for meaning in their lives. And just like the characters in the film, the score has a sort of soul-seeking quality!
