“This film allows Arturo Cardelús to unleash one of those lyrical and emotive scores that perfectly suit his melodic sensibility.” (MundoBSO)

Centurion: The Dancing Stallion (Arturo Cardelús)

Original score from the 2023 family drama feature film directed by Dana Gonzales, starring Amber Midthunder, Billy Zane and Aramis Knight, produced by Grindstone Entertainment Group and released by Lionsgate (USA).

THE STORY: Ellissia, a college student takes part in a Mexican horse riding competition to temporarily escape her problems. Soon she discovered that her health conditions are to hinder her from pursuing her passion.

THE SCORE: “The score combines the sweep and emotion of a full orchestra with a much more intimate, minimalist sound. ‘The Center of Our Lives,’ the first piece I composed for the film, became its main theme and the emotional heart of the score. The theme follows Ellissia’s journey and her relationships with both Centurion and Danny, evolving as her world changes and the story becomes darker following her cancer diagnosis. For some of the film’s most difficult moments, particularly ‘Pain’ and ‘Bad News,’ I took a more intimate approach, performing the piano freely, without a click, and building the string writing around the performance. Elsewhere, the music expands into a larger orchestral sound, with sweeping melodies and subtle electronic textures. The orchestral score was recorded at Synchron Stage Vienna, bringing scale and warmth to the music while allowing its quieter and more personal moments to remain at the heart of the score.”Arturo Cardelús
