THE STORY: A young girl and a terrifying alien form a powerful bond after a chance encounter in the desert, sending them on an adventure that questions the nature of good and evil.

THE SCORE: “When I began working on Xeno, I kept circling around one question: What does connection sound like when it’s not entirely human? The story of Renee and Croak felt fragile and strange, a mirror held up to the parts of us that long for understanding, even from something beyond ourselves.The music had to live in that space, gentle, searching, a little uncertain. I wanted it to feel like two beings reaching toward each other in the dark, unsure if they will ever truly meet. The melodies needed to be honest, vulnerable and the beauty that comes from trying to understand something you can’t quite grasp. Each cue became a conversation between distance and closeness, loneliness and belonging. As the story deepens, the theme of connection evolves. It begins in fragility, then grows into something larger, like love learning to exist in a place it’s never been before. Xeno isn’t a story about science fiction, at least not for me. It’s about empathy, about seeing the unknown and recognizing a part of yourself in it.” – Ryan Taubert

THE COMPOSER: Ryan Taubert is an American composer and music producer known for emotive, cinematic scores in film, TV, and advertising, blending classical and electronic elements for a unique sound. He wrote the scores for Code 8 and Freedom’s Path, and provided additional music for films such as Kingsman: The Golden Circle and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
