THE STORY: Elias develops feelings for his new neighbor Alexander. He soon realizes he’s falling in love for the first time.

THE SCORE: “We managed to recreate the feel of a much larger production with a relatively small ensemble and in an intelligent way: the bassoon, Ma’at string quartet and piano evoke the nostalgia director Anthony Schatteman was looking for. Those strings were also recorded in several layers, so you get the effect of a beautiful ‘cloud’ of music. But also other inventive techniques used during the music production process – such as unusual metrics, focusing on colours instead of themes – ensure that you can create a grand feeling with a small ensemble, which in turn contributes to the heartwarming that the film wants to radiate.” – Ruben de Gheselle 

THE COMPOSER: The 31-year-old film composer Ruben de Gheselle, known for his intimate, hypnotic and sometimes dark scores, is active on various international productions including some recent titles such as the Cannes nominated and Costa Rican entry for the Academy Awards – Clara Sola (2021), which won the Georges Delerue Award for Best Music’ at Film Fest Gent, the Tiong Bahru Social Club (2020), nominated for the Golden Horses Awards and nominated in the Busan International Film Festival (2020) or the Canneseries-winning production Lockdown (2020). Ruben also worked on several internationally acclaimed short films including The Passerby (2020), Beast! (2016), Norman (2014) and Elena (2021). Furthermore, many of these films and series aired on television networks including VRT, ARTE and RTBF. His music for A Cops and Robbers Story and Clara Sola were both release by MovieScore Media.
