Kevlarsjäl (Pessi Levanto)
Original score from the 2025 drama feature film directed by Maria Eriksson-Hecht, starring Torkel Petersson, Josef Kersh and Rio Svensson, produced by Zentropa International Sweden, Bufo and Storm Films and released by TriArt Films (Sweden).
THE STORY: When love enters the lives of teenage brothers Alex and Robin, it shatters their protective symbiotic bubble. While marking the start of a healing process for one of them, it sends the other one down a path that will lead to complete catastrophe.
THE SCORE: “Kevlar Soul is an intimate and realistic drama film about two brothers in Eskilstuna struggling to survive. I really wanted to avoid going over the top melodramatic with the score as the picture itself is strong and gripping. So I worked really hard to achieve a level of emotional impact which fits the scale of the movie but still provides an additional layer to it. There are soft string orchestra textures but the main elements come from solo cello, piano and electric guitar. The guitar also serves as a connection to the film’s theme song by the band Kent.” – Pessi Levanto
THE COMPOSER: Three time HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award nominee Pessi Levanto has scored more than 30 feature films, including the internationally acclaimed Norwegian supernatural thriller The Innocents, the drama The Midwife, the family adventure Rölli and the Golden Key and Danish thrillers Psychosia, Superposition and Paranoia. Besides his film work, Pessi is a sought-after arranger, where his project Classical Trancelations with the Helsinki Philharmonics, had sold-out shows of orchestral versions of club music classics. Kevlarsjäl is the 16th score by Levanto that is being released by MovieScore Media.
