“The music ranges from viscerally tense soundscapes to influences of hip hop… the composer has clearly brought his own personal experience into the making of this movie.” (We Are Movie Geeks)

96 Minutes (Kurt Farquhar)

Original score from the 2011 drama thriller feature film directed by Aimee Lagos, starring Brittany Snow, Christian Serratos and David Oyelowo.

THE STORY: The story of 4 lives slammed together in a shocking moment. Intercutting between a carjacking and the separate stories of the 4 kids in Atlanta, we watch as they hurtle toward a life-changing end.

THE SCORE: “The director Aimee Lagos and I had discussions about the distinctly different worlds that these characters come from…one being a poor inner city environment scared by violence, danger and hopelessness and the other an insulated college campus filled with all the hope in the world. I not only had to balance these two worlds….I also had to create a jarring super dark and edgy world inside the car where the crime was taking place. Another interesting point is the vocal piece that comes in during the final scene and continues over credits. I chose not to use lyrics as I did not want to make a moral choice for the audience at the end. I wanted them to leave the theater still making up their own minds.” – Kurt Farquhar
