THE STORY: A young boy in a nameless, timeless American town establishes a gang of youthful misfits united in their love of guns and their code of honor.
THE SCORE: The orchestral score from Dear Wendy, the film directed by Thomas Vinterberg from a script by Lars von Trier, is written by British composer Benjamin Wallfisch. Nominated as “Discovery of the Year” in the 2005 World Soundtrack Awards and “Best Original Score” in the Danish Film Academy Awards, Wallfisch’s highly emotional score was performed by The Philharmonia Orchestra in London.
THE COMPOSER: Dear Wendy is Wallfisch’s first feature film score, however he has orchestrated and conducted numerous acclaimed film scores for composer Dario Marianelli, including the Oscar-nominated Pride and Prejudice as well as V for Vendetta. As a concert work composer, Wallfisch has written outstanding orchestral works such as Images and the Concertino devoted to clarinetist Michael Collins. Wallfisch is the Associate Composer of the Orchestra of St. John’s Smith Square. As a conductor, he has worked with orchestras such as the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, English Chamber Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony, London Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Chorus, Philharmonia, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Ulster Orchestra.
