THE STORY: What if you lived your entire life in one day and would have just one time to enjoy each moment: first kiss, going to school, growing up, making love? Benny and Gini fall head over heels for each other in a place where a lifetime indeed exists in a single day. But they can’t fathom their love ever ending. They hatch a seemingly-clever plan to beat the system and ultimately spend eternity together.

THE SCORE: Flemish composer Johan Hoogewijs’ deeply emotional score for Life in One Day is a heartwarming, moving and poetic musical work that will remind listeners of such renowned composers as Dario Marianelli, Thomas Newman and Johan Söderqvist. Hoogewijs combines orchestra, electronics and solo instruments such as cello and piano and, just like the film itself, it’s a score that presents a broad range of emotions – all of them with a sense of honesty and despair.

THE COMPOSER: Johan Hoogewijs, born 1957, is a Belgian composer specializing in film and television scores. He trained as an assistant director at the RITS School of Arts in Brussels, while simultaneously studying the piano at the Conservatory of Leuven. Since his musical taste and talent have always extended beyond the purely classical, Hoogewijs complemented his classical education with several jazz-workshops at the Conservatory of Liege. As a composer, Hoogewijs is an autodidact. He composed the scores to many feature films, short movies and documentaries, but he is best known for the immensely popular signature tunes he wrote to successful Belgian and Dutch drama series such as Langs de Kade, Niet voor publicatie, Heterdaad and Witse.  Apart from his television and film scores, Hoogewijs composed for several modern choreographers, and he created hundreds of jingles for the public Belgian broadcasting networks.
