Original score from the 2022 thriller feature film directed by Ibon Cormenzana, starring Javier Rey and Patricia López Arnaiz, produced by Aixerrota Films, Arcadia Motion Pictures, Dorothy Films and Lazona Producciones and released by Filmax (Spain).

THE STORY: After a man seeking to finally reach his goal of climbing Annapurna has an accident, a woman climber who has been taking refuge tries to help him.

THE SCORE: “Music composed for saxophone quartet, string orchestra, piano, mixed with atmospheres and instruments created expressly to match the sonority of the wild nature of this film. This soundtrack tries to reflect the individual and evolving relationship between the two characters in this film: Mateo and Ione. It revolves around several main themes that change throughout the film, adapting to the psychological and emotional state of the characters. It is a music designed to blend in with the sound of an inhospitable yet beautiful nature. We will find references to loneliness and the greatness of human beings in their most fragile moments. The sonorous treatment of the saxophones takes us away from the ‘academic’ conception of this instrument and leads us to rich and varied sonorities.” – Paula Olaz

THE COMPOSER: Paula Olaz was born in Pamplona in 1989 and grew up with a clear interest in music. At the age of 19 she moved to Amsterdam, her first European life experience that brought her to different countries such as France, Germany and Switzerland. She studied a Master’s in Scoring for Film, TV and Video games at Berklee College of Music, and has been working as a GA in the Valencia Berklee Campus Tech Lab. She currently lives in San Sebastián working as a composer and teacher. Her score for Nora (co-composed with Pascal Gaigne) has been released by MovieScore Media.
