Focal Point (Raphaël Dargent / Augustin Izoard)

Original score from the 2025 sci-fi directed by Raphael Buisson Enlas, starring Kip Thorne, Alan Aymie and Ranen Navat..

THE STORY: In a dystopian future where pills erase negative memories, a scientist discovers the Earth exists within a single neuron. Risking everything, he embarks on a desperate quest to find his lost son within this hidden world.

THE SCORE: “The score for Focal Point is born of a close collaboration between myself and composer Augustin Izoard. Through the lens of a microscope, a scientist glimpses a secret of scale that unsettles everything his world rests upon. The music mirrors that vertigo. Brief melodic cells loop and branch like fractals, each motif a magnified echo of the last, until one scale dissolves into the next. The score is hybrid by design: modular and analog synthesizers lay its foundation, alongside a chamber ensemble led by solo flute and biting strings, with clarinet, saxophone, euphonium, piano and guitar. The result is a dreamlike, mystical score that brings the film’s title into focus, from its smallest musical cell to the full extent of its scale.” – Raphaël Dargent
