THE STORY: Blanche Renard meets Greg Lamoureux and believes he is the one, but soon finds herself caught up in a toxic relationship with a possessive and dangerous man.

THE SCORE: “I very much appreciate my long and harmonious collaboration with Valérie Donzelli on this unusual film, so superbly shot and admirably interpreted by Virginie Efira and Melvil Poupaud. My composition process actually started prior to the shooting because I was asked to write a song for the two main actors, and also find the film’s musical theme. The music had to convey both the rise of the man’s perverse madness, as well as the woman’s feeling of suffocation – an almost infernal crescendo which can take the film to crazy dramatic and romantic heights.” – Gabriel Yared

THE COMPOSER: Oscar-winning composer Gabriel Yared is one of the most well respected composers in film. Yared won an Academy Award for his score to Anthony Minghella’s The English Patient, which also won him a BAFTA, Golden Globe and Grammy. Other collaborations with Minghella include The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Cold Mountain (2003) and The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency (2008). Over the past 40 years, he has worked on over 100 movies, including the films of such important directors as Costa-Gavras (Hannah K., 1983), Robert Altman (Vincent & Theo, 1990), Philippe de Broca (Les 1001 Nuits, 1990), Mikael Håfström (1408, 2007) or Mira Nair (Amelia, 2009). More recently Gabriel Yared has scored films like Judy (2019) which featured an Academy Award winning performance by Renée Zellweger, and Jimmy Keyrouz’s Broken Keys (2021). His score for Pietro Marcello’s L’envol was released by MovieScore Media earlier this year.
