November (Guillaume Roussel)

Original score from the 2022 drama thriller feature film directed by Cédric Jimenez, starring Anaïs Demoustier, Jean Dujardin and Lyna Khoudri, produced by Récifilms and Chi-Fou-Mi Productions and released by StudioCanal (France).

THE STORY: Five days into the heart of the French anti-terrorism services during the hunt for suspects after the 13/11/2015 attacks in Paris.

THE SCORE: “Because the events are recent and make painful memories resurface in everybody’s mind, it was very important for Cedric to not show the victims or the attacks per say. The movie is about the investigation that led the special units to track and find the terrorists. I wanted the music to contribute in bringing emotion, soul and in a way a sense of humanity thru a lot of voice sounds. Those processed vocals you hear thru most of the score is in a way a symbol for all the anonymous victims that tragically have lost their life. And also having vocals without language kind of emphasises the powerful solidarity and cohesiveness that an entire country suddenly felt against terrorism  breaking the outbounds of religion, age etc. This movie has been a powerful experience for me as I also have been able to explore a new palette of synthetic sounds. Cedric wanted to music to help feeling the urgency and the unease in some moments. Shaping electrical sounds was an interesting musical experience too.” – Guillaume Roussel
