Original score from the 2022 action feature film directed by Michael Matteo Rossi, starring Krista Allen, Francis Capra and Vernon Wells, released by Acort International (USA).

THE STORY: A young low-level drug dealer is reunited with his estranged mom and uncle to protect him when a ruthless drug kingpin puts a hit on him.

THE SCORE: “The director, Michael Matteo Rossi, asked me for music that was gritty, something that would reflect the mood of Shadows. Michael was very hands on with getting the score to the place he felt it should be. We hit upon a mostly electronic score but with some orchestral elements mixed in when we felt they were needed. Shadows definitely has its moments of despair but also moments of deep emotions that had to be reflected in the music.” – Grant Kirkhope

THE COMPOSER: Grant Kirkhope is a BAFTA, ASCAP and IFMCA nominated composer, born in Edinburgh, Scotland. A member of several bands including Zoot and the Roots and Little Angels, Kirkhope turned his attention to composing and landed a job at the UK company Rare Ltd in 1995. Here he composed the music for several of their best selling games such as, Goldeneye, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark and Viva Pinata. In 2008 he relocated to Baltimore in the USA and worked on Kingdoms of Amalur for Big Huge Games. After four years there he moved to Los Angeles where he has remained. Here he has worked on Sid Meier’s Civilization Beyond Earth, Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse, Ghostbusters and Yooka Laylee to name a few. Kirkhope was asked to work on the feature film The King’s Daughter starring Pierce Brosnan, William Hurt and Kaya Scodelario. He has also composed the score to the game Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, the only western composer to be asked to work on a Mario game.
