The Dark Hour (Alfons Conde)
Original score from the 2006 sci-fi horror feature film directed by Elio Quiroga, starring Silke, Omar Muñoz and Pepo Oliva.
THE STORY: Eight people live isolated in crumbling installations. They cannot abandon the complex and they live in a constant state of vigilance. The food supplies are running out and they urgently need medicine and ammunition, but in order to find them they must abandon the secure area. What lurks outside the small area they inhabit, however, is so menacing that they dare not even speak of it.
THE SCORE: The score makes use of several interesting devices, including the pipe organ, a gothic approach which is contrasted beautifully by the solitary theme duet on bassoon and clarinet. Just like The Abandoned, this album features a lengthy bonus track, the exciting orchestral score from Elio Quiroga’s award-winning short Home Delivery. Our companion to the Alfons Conde album The Abandoned features another exquisite horror score written by the Spanish composer in 2006: The Dark Hour (original Spanish title: La hora fria). This one was performed by the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra and is an atmospheric symphonic score that has a lot of dark but colorful music to offer the listener.
