“A punchy soundtrack and atmospheric score by Steve Lynch…” (Movies in Focus)

“I’ll highlight the score by Steve Lynch (Let Us Prey), which builds the atmosphere with a curiously doom-laced charm.” (iHorror)

Boys from County Hell (Steve Lynch)

Original score from the 2021 horror comedy feature film directed by Chris Baugh, starring Fra Fee, John Lynch and David Pearse, produced by Six Mile Hill Productions and released by Shudder (USA).

THE STORY: A crew of hardy road workers, led by a bickering Father and Son, must survive the night when they accidentally awaken an ancient Irish vampire.

THE SCORE: Boys from County Hell was a joy to work on. The fact that it was a comedic horror meant that I was able to jump between a lot of genres and moods. The director was keen to keep the scares very aggressive, so I was able to use a lot of visceral nasty electric guitar tones and pulsing, dirty synths. On the other side, I was encouraged to use orchestral themes to score the friendships and adventurous moments, something big and sweeping. For this, I worked with the excellent Budapest Scoring Orchestra, who were a dream to work with.”Steve Lynch

THE COMPOSER: Irish composer Steve Lynch is an award winning musician based in Salthill, Galway. He works out of a studio on the edge of the Atlantic surrounded by strange instruments and odd noisemakers. For the past 16 years he has written music for TV shows, commercials and films which have been shown all over the world with his company, at Stellarsound. His previous credits include the Titanic-centenary TV movie Saving the Titanic (2012), the Irish-set western Dominion Creek (also known as An Klondike, 2015-2017) and the claustrophobic horror Let Us Prey (2014).
