“Tim Williams’ music complements the storyline perfectly, enhancing the emotional journey without ever overshadowing it.” (Letterboxd)

Mistura (Timothy Williams)

Original score from the 2025 drama feature film directed by Ricardo de Montreuil, starring Bárbara Mori, Christian Meier and Cesar Ballumbrosio, produced by Seine Pictures and released Outsider Pictures (USA).

THE STORY: A woman’s life unravels after her husband’s betrayal isolates her from elite society. Embracing disregarded communities, she embarks on a transformative journey, challenging norms through a daring culinary venture that redefines her life.

THE SCORE: “When director Ricardo de Montreuil first shared the stills from the set of Mistura, I was immediately captivated. The imagery possessed a luminous, timeless quality reminiscent of a Sophia Loren masterpiece – a return to a type of exquisite filmmaking I had not seen in decades. However, once I watched the full cut, a deeper, more visceral story unfolded. We follow Norma, a woman of immense privilege suddenly stripped of her world, left destitute and isolated from the elite society that once defined her. Her journey is one of radical transformation: she embraces disregarded communities and challenges the status quo through a daring culinary venture that ultimately redefines her soul. The central challenge in scoring Mistura was finding a sonic language that could translate both the outward beauty of Norma’s dreams and the inward struggle of her survival. The music needed to feel as sophisticated as her past, yet as raw as her present. While Norma’s themes often soar through elegant piano and string arrangements, the character of Oscar serves as a vital counterpoint. To represent his world, I introduced a vibrant “street flavor” featuring the legendary Alex Acuña on percussion. His rhythmic textures provide the heartbeat of the local culture, acting as the catalyst that pushes Norma toward her evolution. True to the film’s title, the score is a “mistura”—a deliberate blend. We fused classical structures with traditional rhythmic roots to mirror Norma’s descent from the high-society salons into the vibrant, beating heart of the community.” – Timothy Williams
