Sideshow (Michael Csányi-Wills)

Original score from the 2020 comedy feature film directed by Adam Oldroyd, starring Les Dennis, Anthony Head and April Pearson, produced by Cymru Films and released by Munro Films (UK) and Gravitas Ventures (USA).

THE STORY: When two inept criminals break into the home of a washed-up psychic in search of hidden loot, they get a lot more than they bargained for.

THE SCORE: When Adam Oldroyd called me to ask whether I could turn a Hungarian Gypsy Band into a film score, I was absolutely delighted. My childhood memories of the music I grew up with on holidays in Budapest visiting my family have infused this score more than any other I’ve written. The sounds of the cimbalom played by the amazing Ed Cervenka, bass clarinet played by Thomas Verity and the violin performed by the great hungarian virtuoso Laci Olah, make this score a very special one for me.” – Michael Csányi-Wills

THE COMPOSER: Composer Michael Csányi-Wills is a veteran of film music; between 1997 and 2012  he collaborated with Nigel Clarke on several scores, including Warner Brothers’ The Little Vampire, The Little Polar Bear and The Thief Lord. His solo credits include the documentary The King of Nerac (whose score has been released by MovieScore Media), the Paavo Järvi documentary Maestro as well as the short film A Love Story in Milk for which he won the Best Score Award at the Movie Maverick Awards. Besides his career in film scoring, Michael was appointed composer in residence of the Welsh Sinfonia in 2013 and still regularly performs as a pianist.
