T.I.M. (Walter Mair)
Original score from the 2023 sci-fi thriller feature film directed by Spencer Brown, starring Georgina Campbell, Eamon Farren and Amara Karan, produced by Stigma Films and released by Brainstorm Media (USA) and Netflix (UK).
THE STORY: Prosthetics engineer Abi moves to the countryside to work on Integrate Robotic’s latest product – a humanoid artificial intelligence called T.I.M. – Technologically Integrated Manservant.
THE SCORE: “Composing the score for T.I.M. required taking the listener on a journey through two sonic landscapes which had to exist both separately, but also intertwine as one. One sound world is an organic palette of sounds, featuring small string sections, delicate textures and emotive piano recordings processed with unique analogue FX to support the healing love story throughout the film. The latter world is an exploration of brooding modular synthesis, twisting and detuning as the music progresses to showcase the development of the lead character, “TIM”, as he develops human like emotions becoming sinister in his jealousy. The two worlds intertwine to show TIM’s disruption in the relationship. The organic string textures become detuned and percussive, whilst the aggressive TIM motifs support the foundations below, often taking over the melodies in later parts of the score.“ – Walter Mair
