Teach Me If You Can (Etre prof) (Rémi Boubal)

Original score from the 2022 documentary feature film directed by Émilie Thérond, produced by Winds and released by Gébéka Films (France).

THE STORY: The teachers Beyond deploying their profound commitment which goes above and beyond their primary job requirements. They have also turned teaching into a genuine adventure, changing the destinies of their pupils .

THE SCORE: “The director Emilie Thérond wanted to feel in the music some instruments originating from the three locations where the action takes place (Burkina Faso, Bangladesh, Siberia). The idea was to blur the lines by using balalaika in Burkina, kohl in Siberia or balafon in Bangladesh and to explain that education is universal around the world. String orchestra and piano has given the ability to link the different instruments and also express the characters’ feelings. Emilie wanted a melodic music with different themes to evoke memories of childhood and without réminiscence of a same melody. One of them is taken up in song for end credit. Anja Fougea wrote the text with the director and performed it.” – Rémi Boubal
